At last Tuesday’s assembly, students were appalled at the disrespectful behavior of the attending faculty and staff, who repeatedly disrupted the presentation with distracting remarks and several side conversations. The disruption began during the Heart of God prayer, which multiple teachers allegedly recited in various obnoxious, silly voices. And those who did not refused to participate entirely. Throughout the club announcements, behavior worsened, with various staff members loudly joking to each other until told to quiet down by the Juniors. While attendance was being taken, it was revealed that their seating was out of order, with many sitting with friends instead of where they were assigned. Prompts to return to their original seats were met with snark and general talk-backery. Said one Senior, “The lack of respect for the time and care that goes into these assemblies is really disheartening. This kind of behavior is really immature, and it sets a bad precedent for the underclassmen. And the upperclassmen.” The games of the week announcements took much longer than scheduled due to overwhelming booing whenever the name of a school other than Sacred Heart was mentioned. When assembly finally came to a close halfway through office hours, seniors were dismissed first, much to the outrage of staff. Once the freshmen were dismissed, the faculty and staff were given a stern talking to by the deans, although no reliable sources have agreed to comment on the nature of the lecture at this time.
