A popcorn machine, a dog, and Adam Sandler-inspired outfits—Homecoming 25’ at SHP was a celebration of creativity and Gator pride! As homecoming 25’ came about, students celebrated a fun, eventful week leading up to weekend festivities by dressing up to carry on the school’s gator spirit. From Groutfit Monday to Pajama Friday, students were given the perfect opportunity to show their creativity and school pride. This energy on campus raised a question: how did SHP’s students embrace their “Gator Spirit”
With different themes for each day, the opportunities to go all out were endless. Some hits from the students were people wearing their dad’s overly baggy shorts for Adam Sandler day. Just the next day, for anything but a backpack, John Barnds ‘26 brought a popcorn machine, and John Bartle ‘26 led a dog into school as his bag. It was hard to avoid rivalries on Thursday as people repped their favorite teams on Jersey day.
For a quick behind-the-scenes look at this week at SHP, ASB member Talia Samuels ‘26 explained how theme days are decided. “We try to pick themes that are fun but also realistic, so everyone can join in,” she says, “For example, Adam Sandler Day.”
School spirit is an integral part of SHP’s identity, and it is reflected through each year’s lineup of Homecoming events and dress-up days. This week brings together students from every grade through events like musical chairs, the hot wings trivia contest, and our first Pep Rally on Friday. As one of the hallmark traditions at SHP, Homecoming week is an amazing way to kick off a new year of events and school pride.
